Microbiology is a branch of medicine that involves the study of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa.

Department of Microbiology at M.V.J

Department of Microbiology has dedicated teaching staff for undergraduate training in the college premises. The department is adorned by an up-to date library and a colorful, informative museum which has descriptive charts, models and specimens and well established practical laboratory for undergraduates.

MVJ Hospital has a service laboratory catering to the diagnostic investigations in bacteriology, serology, Parasitology, Mycology, Virology and Immunology for the inpatients and outpatients. The staff members are involved in various research projects. Department is involved in Hospital Infection Control programmes and antibiotic policy.

National health programmes like ICTC and RNTCP are also attached to this department. Department has been actively participating in External Quality Assurance programme as well.
